Why I Don't Think My Braces Were Worth It

A couple weeks ago, I got my braces off. I kind of wish I had never had them, though.

When I was younger, two of my teeth were sticking out, and they looked kind of funny. I thought that my teeth were just fine, and I didn't want to get braces. But still, my parents made me get braces. I started out with an expander, and then after that I had braces. They were really annoying: I couldn't eat a lot of my favorite foods. I couldn't eat nuts, carrots, caramel, or popcorn. It was annoying.

It was really annoying when I was hiking or something and I got hungry, because I couldn't eat trail mix or granola bars because of the nuts. It was also annoying when I was at a friends house, a birthday party, or just at home, and the other kids got to eat fun snacks that I couldn't have because of my braces. A lot of the time when I ate things it would get stuck in my expander, and once I had a noodle stuck in there for two days. It was the worst.

It did straighten out my teeth, but since I couldn't eat a lot of things and my braces made it really hard to brush my teeth, I still think it wasn't worth it.

Mom said that when I was grown up I would probably be glad that my teeth weren't crooked. My aunt got her braces off this summer, and my Mom said that if I didn't get braces now then when I was a grown-up I would probably want braces, just like my aunt did. But I don't think so.

Oh, and also, my big sister Lily would like to say: "Anna is wrong about her teeth. She would have regretted it if she didn't get braces. So there."
